Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Mechanization Engineering

Entry Requirements 

  1. SSSCE Applicants Credit passes (A-D) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects: Core English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) credit passes in elective Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Crop and Animal husbandry, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Metal Work, Auto Mechanic, Basic Electronics and Applied Electricity. Such Applicants will be admitted in year one (1) of the programme.
  2. WASSCE Applicants Credit passes (A1-C6) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects: Core English Language, Core Mathematics and Integrated Science plus three (3) credit passes in elective Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Crop and Animal husbandry, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing, Engineering Science, Chemistry, Metal Work, Auto Mechanic, Basic Electronics and Applied Electricity. Such Applicants will be admitted in year one (1) of the programme.
  3. GCE “O” and “A” Level Five (5) credit passes at ‘O’Level including English and Mathematics, plus, three (3) Credit passes at ‘A’ Level in the following courses: Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Crop and Animal husbandry, Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics. Such Applicants will be admitted in year one (1) of the programme
  4. Technical School Applicants Credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science plus credit passes in paper I and paper II in any of the following areas: Agricultural Science, Horticulture, Crop and Animal husbandry, Mechanical Engineering Craft Practice, Industrial Mechanics, Advanced Welding, Auto Mechanics, Heavy Duty, Refrigeration, and Agricultural Engineering. Such Applicants will be admitted in year one (1) of the programme.
  5. HND and Diploma Applicants
    1. HND Applicants must have graduated with a good Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Agricultural Engineering with at least Second-Class Lower Division, and Should pass an interview to be conducted by the department will be admitted in year three (3) of the programme
    2. Diploma Applicants must have graduated with a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with at least Second-Class Lower Division, and they will be admitted in year two (2) of the programme.
  6. MVT 3, MET 3 and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Part 3 Technicians Certificate Applicants
    1. Applicants must have acquired Motor Vehicle Technicians Part 3 (MVT 3) or Mechanical Engineering Technicians Part 3 (MET 3), Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Part 3, Certificate of London City & Guilds/Ghana Education Service (Technical Examinations Unit) and
    2. The applicant must have acquired a one -year post MVT/MET 3 and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Part 3, qualification working experience in a recognised garage or related industry at the time of submitting the application forms and
    3. Must undergo a one (1) semester bridging programme and pass all the bridging courses with an average score of at least 50%. and they will be admitted in year three (3) of the programme after the bridging programme.
  7. Mature Applicants Must be 25 years old with legitimate documentary proof which is at least five (5) years old at the time of application, must pass Mature Students’ Entrance Examinations conducted by KsTU, may have to attend and pass an interview. Evidence of working experience will be an added advantage
  8. Foreign Applicants: Academic records of foreign applicants will be referred to GTEC for the determination of qualification equivalence and eligibility for admission as well as placement   

 

I. Foreign or International Students

All foreign qualifications will be referred to National Accreditation Board (NAB) for determination of equivalences and eligibility for admission.
