Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor Sworn-In As The First Chancellor Of KsTU

Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has held an investiture ceremony for Dr. Kwame Addo Kufour as the Chancellor of the University. The former Board Chairman of Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), President of the Ghana Medical Association, Member of Parliament for Manhyia Constituency, and Former Defence Minister becomes the first Chancellor after it attained a university status.

Speaking at his investiture ceremony on Friday September 30, 2022 at the New Great Hall, Dr. Addo Kufuor commended the members of the University Council, Faculty, and support staff of the institution for their hard work and splendid achievements over the last five years. He further expressed gratitude to the University for giving him the opportunity to assume office as the first Chancellor of the institution.

The Chancellor pledged to provide all the necessary support and assistance the Council, Faculty, and support staff would require transforming KsTU into one of the topmost TVET institutions for Information Communication and Technology (ICT) development in Ghana and beyond.

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was the special guest of honour, administered the Oath of Office and the Oath of Secrecy to Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor in the presence of an elated audience. Dr. Bawumia described Dr. Addo Kufour as a man of integrity, an outstanding statesman, a God-fearing person and a mentor for all in the public service. 

He assured of the government’s steadfast commitment and continuous support to KsTU and other TVET institutions in the country.

Gracing the occasion were notable dignitaries including the Former President John Agyekum Kufuor, brother of the Chancellor, Former Speaker of Parliament Prof  Mike Ocquaye, the Majority Leader of the Parliament of Ghana Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu; the Minister of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast Sir Sam Jonah, the Ashanti Regional Minister Simeon Osei-Mensah, the family of the Chancellor, CEO of Angel Group of Companies Dr. Kwaku Oteng, Most Rev Dr Cyril Kobina Ben-Smith Anglican Archbishop of the Internal Province of Ghana and the Church of the Province of West Africa (CPWA), and Most. Rev. Prof. Daniel Yinka Sarfo, immediate past Anglican Archbishop.

The ceremony also attracted a host of traditional rulers including Nana Boakye Agyemang Bonsu the Asafohene who represented Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Asantehene, Nana Adumhene, Nana Asemhene, Nana Domeabrahene, Nana Apagyahene, Nana Anantahene among others.
