Equiping KsTU Library - Books donated by Dr. suzanne Gott

The Acting University Librarian Mr. K. Osei Kuffour has taken delivery of a number of books from the Directorate of International Affairs and Institutional Linkages (IAIL) of Kumasi Technical University. The books are meant to augment the stock at Fashion and Creative Arts section of the University Library. Presenting the books at the brief ceremony, the Director of IAIL Rev Dr. John Opoku was full of praise for Dr. Suzanne Gott for the kind gesture. Dr. Opoku was supported by Dr. Ayensu (Deputy Director, IAIL), Rev. Dr. Crentsil (Dean, Faculty of Creative Arts and Technology) as well as lecturers from the Fashion Department during the presentation.

Dr. Suzanne Gott (Associate Professor) from the University of British Columbia (Okanagan Campus) donated the books through the Director of IAIL as part of her visit to Kumasi. Dr. Gott is a lecturer from the Department of Critical Studies in the Faculty of Creative and Critical Studies. She has been visiting the city of Kumasi since the 90s and has developed an interest in the fashion trends of young people in Kumasi. Her special interest in the then Kumasi Polytechnic (now Kumasi Technical University) also began to soar up from 2013 which resulted in the book donation.

Among the books donated included African Print Fashion, a work in which she was the lead curator. This is a book that showcases an artwork exhibited by the students from the Fashion Department of KsTU. Dr. Gott has the desire to impact the fashion trends in Kumasi. On further collaborations with the University, Dr. Gott assured that she was readily available for any form of collaboration that will be beneficial to KsTU.

On his part, Rev. Dr. Opoku thanked Dr. Gott for the gesture and challenged the Acting Librarian to ensure proper maintenance of the books. He further encouraged Dr. Gott to continuously visit the Institution for the collaboration to be cemented. The Librarian in receiving the books assured that they would be properly taken care of and put at the disposal of students.
