KsTU Partners with GhIE to induct artisans into Ghana Institute of Engineering

The Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) has officially inducted artisans under its Professionalisation of Artisans Project (ProfArts), which aims at professionalising artisans by providing them with the required training, certification, equip them with tools and finally, promote them so that their services will be readily accessible.

The induction which was held at the Great Hall of Kumasi Technical University marks the official and legal acceptance of beneficiaries of craftsmen into the Ghana Institute of Engineering.

Speaking at the induction, Ing. Rev. Prof. Charles Anum Adams, the President of Ghana Institute of Engineering who inducted the artisans into their fold said, they are now equal members of the Institute but noted they can exhibit their membership status through their professionalism.  He also encouraged the artisans on this important step toward a new way of life, both personally and professionally.

Ing. Rev. Prof. Anum Adams advised them to keep both their own and other people's safety in mind while working. He urged the artisans to abide by both personal Ghanaian law and the laws of the organization,

Prof. Gabriel Dwomoh, Pro Vice-Chancellor of KsTU, said the institution has collaborated with the ProfArts projects to train the artisans to enable them develop the right attitude towards their career path.

Prof. Dwomoh, however, said KsTU has the best Engineering programmes to help in the career progression of these artisans.

Dr. Smart Sarpong of KsTU’s Institute of Research, Innovation and Development congratulated the artisans and emphasized on the need for them to work ethically, and professionally for them to have a successful career.

The artisans received certificates at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) to mark the official and legal acceptance of beneficiaries of the professionalization of artisans (ProfArts) Projects by the Engineering Council. The project is also in partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI), Vodafone Ghana Limited, Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) and the Bosch to provide artisans with Non-Technical skills in digitalization, Finance Literacy and Power Tools.
