Senior Members in Administration from Technical Universities confer at KsTU

Senior Members in Administration have held a day’s congress to deliberate on better ways to function following the conversion of polytechnics into Technical Universities. The national congress which took place at Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) also discussed challenging issues confronting the administrators and the way forward.

Among their deliberations, professional development as well as general advancement in education of Senior Members in administration were identified as requisite tools for rendering top notch support services to the various Technical Universities as they strive hard to deliver their mandate of churning out productive graduates needed to develop the country. Such advancement was further underscored to be necessary for a stronger unionization in the Technical University era.

In an opening address, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mike Agbesi Acheampong who stood in for the Interim Vice Chancellor Prof. Asiamah Yeboah, emphasized the need to work as a team to support the various Technical Universities to deliver as expected. This was supported by the Vice President of the dissolved Ghana Association of Polytechnic Administrators (GAPA) Madam Rita Gyau who urged all members to work harder to justify the new status of the converted institutions. The Acting Registrar of KsTU Mr. Abraham Annan Adjei on his part charged the Senior Members in administration to bury all differences in the past and forge ahead.

Participants of the congress identified forming a stronger bond between the Technical Universities and the Ghana Association of University Administration (GAUA), irrespective of whether GAPA will merge with GAUA or not, as an important gesture. There was an indication of an ongoing communication between GAPA and GAUA towards unification.
